Destination Imagination
Destination Imagination at Cimarron
Destination Imagination (DI) is more than just a competition—it’s a chance for students to unlock their creativity, stretch their problem-solving skills, and discover the power of teamwork. Through hands-on, team-based challenges, students learn how to think outside the box, take risks, and design innovative solutions that are truly their own.
DI challenges are designed to spark imagination while building real-world skills. Students work together to:
-
Develop original solutions to open-ended challenges
-
Practice critical and creative thinking
-
Build confidence in public speaking and presentations
-
Strengthen collaboration and teamwork
-
Have fun while learning to persevere through challenges
Who Can Participate?
Students in grades 1–5 are welcome to join! Teams form in the fall, and paperwork must be submitted by the posted deadline (usually October). Look for DI posters and announcements at the start of the school year for sign-up details.
What Do Teams Do?
Each DI team selects a challenge—from engineering and science to fine arts and improv—and works together to create a unique solution. Teams then showcase their projects at local competitions, with the possibility of advancing to state and even global levels!
Why Join DI?
Students who participate in Destination Imagination gain skills that last a lifetime: confidence, resilience, creativity, and the ability to solve problems in new and exciting ways. Plus, it’s a fun and unforgettable experience to share with friends!
