House Council

House Council at Cimarron

House Council is an exciting leadership opportunity for our 5th grade students. Much like a Student Council, House Council gives students the chance to represent their peers, build leadership skills, and make a positive impact on our school. As leaders of their Houses, Council members work together to promote school spirit, plan service projects, and help make Cimarron the best it can be.

Why Join House Council?

Members of House Council will:

  • Develop leadership, responsibility, and teamwork skills

  • Learn how to organize meetings and share ideas effectively

  • Promote school pride and build community within their Houses

  • Plan and participate in school-wide events and service projects

  • Gain experience in decision-making and time management

What Does House Council Do?

House Council members help lead and organize activities such as:

  • Recycling programs

  • School spirit days and House competitions

  • Community outreach and service projects

  • Special events

  • Other student-led initiatives that build pride and connection

How to Join

  • Open to 5th grade students.

  • Students must complete an application, signed by a parent/guardian and their teacher, by the deadline. Late applications are not accepted.

  • Accepted members will receive a confirmation letter from the sponsor and introduction to the school at the second House Rally.

Meetings & Leadership

House Council meets twice a month to plan and discuss activities.

  • Officer positions (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Activity Chairs) are elected through a student voting process.

  • All members, whether serving as officers or representatives, play an important role and share responsibility for making House Council successful.

Being part of House Council is not only a fun and rewarding experience—it’s a chance to grow as a leader, practice citizenship, and leave a lasting legacy at Cimarron.
